As part of the Erasmus KA1 project S.T.A.R.T. which our school is taking part in, at the end of the summer holidays I participated in a course in Slovenia, in the beautiful Slovenian town of Radovljica.
As part of this training, which was called "Movement And Learning: The Importance of Movement in our Classrooms", I went to acquire new knowledge and skills in Braingym activities and the Double Doodle Exercise System Play which are very useful for stimulating the attention, motivation and activity of students in schools. |

In the early morning I set off for Radovljica. After buying weekly vignettes, I drove to Slovenia through the Dubrava Križovljanska border crossing. Around 8.00 am I arrived on the highway in Radovljica and settled in the beautiful family hotel Sport which is on the outskirts of Radovljica.
I hurried on foot to the center of the place where the first stage of my four-day education in Slovenia was planned within the Saturn Educational Institute.

The training started at 9.00 and lasted until 14.00. After the leader of the training, Mrs. Mojca Vilfan, introduced herself, then the other participants, including me, did the same.
The training was attended by 4 participants from Romania, from the city of Oradea, two participants from Poland, from the city of Lodz and I from Croatia.
This was followed by a presentation of the Slovenian education system from pre-school education to higher education. After the break, we presented our educational systems and compared them with Slovenian ones.
The afternoon was free and I spent it touring the historic center of Radovljica. Radovljica, a town and municipality, is located in the northwestern part of Slovenia and belongs to the Slovenian province of Gorenjska. The place is very picturesque, located along the river Sava Bohinjka, between the slopes of the Julian Alps and the Karavanke. Nearby are the famous Slovenian lakes Bled and Bohinj and the Triglav National Park.

On the second day of the training, I was introduced to the Double Doodle Play system of exercises that stimulate children's brains a fun way, with movement and play. They enhance students' attention and concentration and have a very positive effect on learning outcomes regardless of the age of the students. The exercises are easy to remember and apply at all levels of education, especially in preschool and early primary school age.

Then we practiced the theoretical part in independent practical work with colleagues. In the end, we went on a tour of the city of Radovljica accompanied by a guide. We visited the local museum and got acquainted with the history of the whole area. In the afternoon, we all did an excellent four-hour bike route around where I walked 30 km through the nearby hills, both on foot and by bike. The prize was unique views of the Slovenian mountains and the Sava River.

The third day of education was spent on a study visit to Bled, which is about twenty kilometers away from Radovljica. Lake Bled is one of the tourist gems of Slovenia. After a round trip around the lake and a visit to one of the large camps nearby, we visited the old fortress of Bled. Then we visited the center of Bled where we learned how tourism originated around this beautiful lake, how it developed and today has reached an enviable level thanks to all the inhabitants of the city and its surroundings. After the joint program, we spent the afternoon in our own arrangement, enjoying a walk, Bled cream pastry locally called Bledske rezine and a boat ride. We returned to Radovljica in the late afternoon full of impressions.

The last day of education was the most intense for all of us. All participants participated in a demonstration of Brain Gym exercises that are regularly used in the school system of Slovenia, with special emphasis on exercises that promote the development of initial reading and writing in younger students. With each set of exercises, it is explained in detail before what school activities it is good to carry them out and how they activate and connect different areas of the child's brain.
At the end of the training, all participants unanimously concluded that the training was very interesting and useful for different areas of application, both in kindergartens and primary schools, and in institutions for the education of students with special needs. In the end, we received certificates of successfully completed and completed training.
In the afternoon I visited the canyon of the river Radovna, called Vintgar. In it, I again witnessed the beauty and preservation of Slovenian nature and learned something more about the attitude of Slovenian people towards their homeland.

Late in the evening I headed home where I arrived late at night.
During the trip and stay in Slovenia, I was pleasantly surprised by the attitude of the local people, who in turn were extremely kind.
I would also like to point out the attitude of educator Mojca, who in a short time of several days tried to convey as much of her rich experience as possible to all participants in an honest and measured way, but also to present her country in the best way.
As for the new knowledge and skills learned, I will try to introduce all interested teachers of our school to them, and I also intend to use them in my work with students in the school.

All in all, for me this was an interesting, instructive and useful experience that I would recommend to anyone.
