Two years ago, Sračinec Elementary School embarked on an adventure called ERASMUS+ EUROPEAN WONDERS OF GEOGRAPHY PROJECT with a lot of enthusiasm and motivation, but at a time when numerous student and teacher mobility were to take place, the Coronavirus epidemic started and everything slowed down significantly.
Although some online conferences and first assignments were done, the most important meaning of Erasmus was missing, namely live mobility and exchange of ideas and experiences. For this very reason, the participants were happy and satisfied that they realized the first live mobility, right here in Croatia. EWoG - THE FIRST MOBILITY On Friday, November 5, 2021, coordinator Janja Žnidarić welcomed guests, teachers from Germany, Spain and Italy. The main coordinator Sebastian Wolff and mathematics and art teacher Marselina Koch arrived from Germany. Spanish teacher Giovanna Cannavò, also the project coordinator at the Italian school, and principal Arona Felice arrived from Italy. English teacher José Antonio Cáraceles Aznar, who is the project coordinator at the Spanish school, and Aurelia Maria Ortega Montes arrived from Spain. |
GETTING TO KNOW VARAŽDIN AND WORKSHOPS
The next day, the participants got to know the city of Varaždin under expert guidance, and the beauty of the city and our gastronomic offer left them speechless. One of the comments etched in our memory was “keep this hidden pearl from the city you have”. The atmosphere was completed by lunch in Verglec restaurant and socializing in Julian's Garden.
As the mobility was planned primarily to get to know the coordinators better and plan future activities, the first workshop was related to the final product of our project - didactic units on the wonders of Europe - DESERT, FOREST, VOLCANO AND LAKES.

SUNDAY IN THE SURROUNDINGS
With a trip to the castle of Trakošćan, a fossile volcano Gaveznica and the Museum of Krapina Neanderthals, we offered guests a unique experience of autumn in our area, especially guests from Spain who have only summer and short winter because they live in a desert area with almost no vegetation.

GYMNASTICS AND SCHOOL CLASSES
On Tuesday, teachers visited physical education class, English class as well as the lower grades to get acquainted with the way they work and communicated with our students in English. Although shy at first, the students proved to be excellent English speakers, which was praised by the guests.
In the last workshop we discussed social networks, the website, the use of eTwinning, mobility evaluation and the distribution of certificates.
In order to keep the gastronomic impression on high level, the guests had lunch in the school kitchen where the cooks, to the delight of the guests, prepared pumpkin soup, roasted duck with mlinci pasta, salad with pumpkin oil and walnut and poppy seeds cakes.
The meetings thus came to the end and the participants expressed their exceptional satisfaction with the productivity of mobility in Croatia, both in the workshops and in its cultural part.
